Our Story
Gracefully situated in Moneta, Virginia, just moments from the shores of Smith Mountain Lake, The Copper Kettle Co. is a destination defined by refined comfort, thoughtful cuisine, and genuine hospitality. Originally envisioned by Mickey Martin as a warm, welcoming space inspired by the timeless feeling of Grandma’s kitchen, the restaurant has evolved into an elegant dining experience where tradition and sophistication coexist seamlessly.
Now located at LakeWatch Plantation, just west of Bridgewater Plaza and conveniently accessible to guests from Franklin and Bedford counties, The Copper Kettle is also well worth the scenic drive from Roanoke. Many guests consider the short journey an essential part of the experience—leaving the city behind for an evening of exceptional dining in a relaxed, lakeside setting.
Guiding the culinary vision is Executive Chef Sonny D (DiPaulo), formerly of The Waterfront Country Club and a cornerstone of The Copper Kettle since its inception. His approach artfully blends country-inspired comfort with Italian refinement, resulting in a menu that showcases exceptional steak and seafood offerings, alongside elevated interpretations of classic favorites. Each dish reflects precision, balance, and a deep respect for quality ingredients.
In 2019, Tim Reith, an accomplished restaurateur and owner of the renowned Mango’s Bar & Grill, acquired The Copper Kettle Co., ushering in a renewed focus on excellence. Under his leadership, the guest experience has been further elevated through attentive service, polished presentation, and a commitment to culinary distinction.
Complementing the cuisine is an outstanding wine program curated by Sommelier Jason Hodnett, whose fine-dining background brings depth and intention to every selection. The wine list is thoughtfully designed to pair seamlessly with both steak and seafood, offering guests a refined journey through exceptional varietals, classic regions, and expressive bottles that elevate each course.
At The Copper Kettle Co., dining is an experience meant to be savored—unhurried, elegant, and memorable. From the first pour to the final course, every detail is thoughtfully considered, inviting guests to indulge in an atmosphere of understated luxury and lasting connection at Smith Mountain Lake—an experience that makes the drive from Roanoke more than worthwhile.
